What is deconstruction?
Deconstruction, also referred to as Green Demolition, is the breaking down of a house or building into its base materials, such as lumber, bricks, and architectural details. This is different than architectural salvage or soft skimming, which only deal with the elements of the house easily removed prior to demolition. This refers to recovering materials used in the structure of the building, and is part of the building being taken down. Though normal modern demolition does often involve the recycling of some of the materials, deconstruction is a more thorough process that eliminates as much material from the waste stream as is economically viable.
