The Charles Finney Corporate School was first established in 1991 by a Pastoral Council representing seven Rochester, NY area Christian churches, creating a private high school program for students in the community. In 2002, the school opened its doors to a K-8 program, renamed as the Charles Finney School. In 2004, the school purchased the building at 2070 Five Mile Line Road in Penfield, enabling a wide range of capital improvements and expansions.
The school is named after Charles Grandison Finney, a prominent Christian minister who is noted as the person “who changed the face of American Evangelism”. He was born August 29, 1792 in Warren, Connecticut. He was ordained a Presbyterian minister in 1824 in Oneida, NY and preached the Revivals throughout the northeast, including Boston, Philadelphia, Auburn, Buffalo, Troy, New York City, and Rochester. He went on to be the president of Oberlin College in England, teaching classes in Pastoral Theology until his death on August 16, 1875.
Reclaimed material from the Charles Finney School is being re-sawed and milled by Pioneer Millworks, and made into a merchandise case for '47, as designed by B-R Carts & Kiosks.
