The TED House is one of three winning designs for the From the Ground Up Design Competition (2008), sponsored by: Home Headquarters Inc., Syracuse Center of Excellence and the Syracuse School of Architecture.
The single family home is being built in the Near West Side of Syracuse as part of the Near West Side Initiative (NWSI). The home was deconstructed by the Northeast Green Building Consulting in order to extract usable lumber and materials. Levannia remanufactured the reclaimed lumber into composite flooring which was integrated into the construction of the TED house. The renovation will include several green technologies which be impletmented throughout the building from storm water retention and geothermal heating to the selection environmentally preferable products all in an effort to achieve LEED certification.
